Throughout this class we have had many writing assignments. Simultaneously, we learned how to write correctly, by using the Writing Process and different writing strategies. I have learned a lot during this semester and feel as if I have grown as a writer. Writing so often, and so much has developed my writing skills immensely.
At the beginning of the semester, I struggled working with the writing process. Mostly, because I was new to that way of writing because I was so used to just writing a paper without planning it out or anything. By using the writing process my papers are more cohesive and organized. Prior to this class, I would rush to do papers, and never did outlines. In all honesty, I hated outlines. Soon after starting this class, outlines became more bearable. I begun to accept the new ways of writing, and used them to my benefit.
There are many ways I prepare a writing project for submission. Some ways are efficient and some do not work. One of the most helpful things when preparing for submission was how consistent the due dates were so that I knew when stuff was due because if I turned it in late; I knew I would receive a zero. When it comes to what has the greatest impact on the way I go about preparing a writing project, time is the main thing. Since time is valuable, it is important that I plan out everything appropriately between all my other homework and activities. Therefore, the amount of time or effort I put into an assignment depends on my time availability.
Before this class, I dubbed myself to be a pretty good writer. As I am nearing the end of this class, I have found that my writing has some flaws to it. My biggest natural weakness is being able to relate my paper back to the thesis, in order to prove it, because I have always struggled with this; however, now it has become more evident. Some of my natural strengths is being able to make my writing sound college-level, and intriguing. I have engaged the writing process to full extent because by utilizing it I have improved my weaknesses tremendously and have become a better writer, When approaching future writing assignments I plan on continuing to use the writing process, but also attempt to dedicate more time to writing, in order to write to my full potential.
Out of all the writing assignments we have had this semester; my best work is the social issues essay. Mostly because my interest level in this assignment was greater in this one than all of the others combined. I enjoyed picking my own topic and reading about it. Some learning I have applied from this, to this project, is to get more interested in it by adding more personal touches, that way I want to do my best instead of feeling like I have to. If I had more time I would analyze by best and worst assignments from this semester and reflect on them in order to make my future writing better. To the reader of this paper I would like to say; if you are a student, it is best not to procrastinate on your work and make sure you turn in assignments on time and correctly; and if you are the teacher I would like to say thank you for teaching me about how to improve my writing, and overall making me a better writer.
